| Skill Development Camps 2008 These swim camps are best suited for swimmers who have at least one year of competitive experience at the USS, YMCA or interscholastic level. It is designed to enhance skill technique of all four competitive strokes, starts and turns. Campers must be comfortable being in the pool for an hour at a time. Resident campers ages 10-12 must attend camp with a friend(s) as roommates. Camps include swimming workouts, dryland training in power yoga, and instruction in the use of weight training equipment. In addition, underwater video stroke analysis, technique drills and “chalk-talks” on nutrition, dryland training and sports psychology will be offered. Upon the request of the camper a written evaluation will be generated for the swimmer’s personal coach. Campers will participate in our evening recreation program (see important information). The camp is held at the Cornell University main campus in Ithaca, New York.

toward highly competitive swimmers. It features three sessions/day and
offers more instruction related to strength, conditioning and nutrition
out of the pool. Dinners are provided for commuter campers.

Holohan
The Syracuse, N.Y., native was also the owner and operator of Precision Coaching, an aquatic management company that manages five pools in the Syracuse area. He was both a coach and participant in the national team training camp for the World University Games in 1999. Holohan is also a member of the American Swim Coaches Association and the USA Swimming Coaches Association. Holohan received his bachelor's degree in psychology from Syracuse in 1974 and a Master's Degree in exercise science from Syracuse in 2005. His research for his MS degree on how physiology correlates to swimming performance was presented at both the FINA World Sports Medicine Conference and the North American Association of Pediatric Exercise Medicine Conference. email

Registration will be held on the ground floor of Robert Purcell Community Center on the first day of camp. A camper orientation will be held following check in, after which camp counselors will take campers to the first instructional session.
